KATATONIA’s musical style spans incredibly widely, from death-doom and gothic metal in the band’s early days to alternative and progressive rock and post-metal in the years after their enormously popular 1996 album ‘Brave Murder Day’ – but always centered on their very characteristic sad sound. Their music is heavy, and their lyrical universe is profound, reflective and melancholic, which is felt particularly in the group’s atmospheric and intense live performances. These capable Swedes are highly respected on the international music scene, not least after their powerful 2023 release ‘Sky Void of Stars’.
